GreenRoc Strategic Materials and Morrow Batteries have agreed to collaborate on producing graphite active anode material (AAM) for batteries. They signed a non-binding memorandum to create a Nordic battery value chain, with GreenRoc supplying graphite from its Amitsoq mine in Greenland to Morrow’s factory in Norway.

The project includes GreenRoc establishing an AAM processing plant near Morrow’s facility. This arrangement is expected to reduce transport costs and emissions. The Amitsoq mine holds a large high-grade graphite deposit, and the planned processing facility is expected to support local and sustainable battery production.

GreenRoc will also set up NorGraph, a Norwegian subsidiary, to develop the AAM plant and access EU funding. The company highlights the environmental benefits and strategic importance of developing domestic graphite production for European electric vehicle and battery industries.

This collaboration is expected to strengthen Europe’s graphite supply chain and reduce dependency on imports.
